Class Descriptions

Ballet:

A classical dance form characterized by grace, precision of movement, formal gestures, steps, and poses. Ballet develops discipline, confidence, poise and grace in our students. It is crucial to the development of correct technique and alignment in the dancer.

Pointe:

An advanced level of ballet for dancers ages 12+. Students are assessed by their ballet instructor as to readiness. All students must be enrolled in a ballet technique class to participate.

Contemporary:

A fusion of lyrical and modern, challenging dancers to interpret their music’s meaning in order to express emotion that matches. Soft based movements are often mixed with stronger, more intricate moves.

Jazz:

A smooth, modern style commonly used in Broadway shows and movies. Movements are often big, energetic, and flashy.

Hip Hop:

Takes dance off the street and into the studio. Moves are strong, smooth and have plenty of attitude. Students learn the basics of waving, tutting, popping, and trick-based movements. As students get older, we build off of that underlying technique to make them strong dancers.

Pom:

A form of drill team technique that combines cheer based moves with a jazz or hip hop style. Cheer jumps and flexibility are a major focus in these classes. Pom pons will be used in class.

Tap

Is a lively, rhythmic dance that makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician.

Acro:

A form of gymnastics where students work on a number of acro and tumbling moves (such as cartwheels, headstands, handstands, backbends, etc). A great way to build flexibility & strength while learning floor gymnastics skills. All tumbling takes place on a mat.

Core:

A 30-minute class where all basics of dance are reinforced. Strength and flexibility are primarily the focus in order to improve all technique work in other classes. All students ages 7 and older a required to participate in a core class of the appropriate level.

Dancing in Diapers: 

A fun 30-minute class for walkers-3 year old children still in diapers. This class is the perfect introduction to movement and dance for your toddler.  Basic dance terms are taught utilizing creative movement and fun activities.

Preschool Combo:

A fun, light hearted 30-minute class for 3 and 4-year-old students to introduce them to the world of dance. Basic ballet and tap skills are developed. Each class ends with creative movement exercises to reinforce memory and application of skills learned.

Kinderdance:

An energetic, lively 30-minute class for 5 and 6-year-old kindergarten students. Basic ballet technique and tap technique skills are reinforced and further developed. Each class ends with creative movement exercises to reinforce memory and application of skills learned.
